I stick to the same routine everyday, and no I'm not referring to the dance routines I used to perform back in the day. (Sing Hallelujah sound familiar Kristin and Kelly?) My mornings (weekends excluded) are so predictable it's sad but the repetition works well for me especially since I'm no morning person.

My morning starts with a BIG cup of Donut House coffee in either Chocolate Glazed Donut or Cinnamon Roll flavor. Gherkin likes it because he wakes up to the smell of donuts or cinnamon. What's not to like about that?

Then I have two whole grain waffles with smart balance butter and nutella. My addiction started during our vacay to Italy this past summer, and I rarely vary it. No need to because it's that good.

While eating my waffles I spend about 30 minutes checking e-mail, catching up on blog posts, checking facebook, and peeping at the weather in Bellagio. True story. Every morning since our visit to Bellagio/Lake Como last July I've checked the Bellagio webcam. It helps me stay connected to the most beautiful place I've ever seen and Mr. Clooney. Check it out here. These are the same views we had every morning and evening... because our hotel room was right above the webcam.

Then I head to the bathroom in an attempt to beautify myself and then the closet to get dressed. All while my ipod speaker is blaring my morning mix. Seriously, I take drastic measures to help improve my mood in the AM. Did I mention that I am no morning person?

Lastly, I make the bed before heading out. This is a MUST. It doesn't matter if I'm running late... I will never leave the bed unmade. This puzzles Tony. I blame it on my stern father.

That's it and that's all. I apologize for the random post and if I bored you with my boring morning routine.

Happy Birthday Mac Daddy

Our crawfish boil in honor of our good friend's {Mac's} 30th birthday was a success. It was our first party at the new house, and undoubtedly not our last.

The weather could not have been better. Little humidity and low 80s. Perfect!

Will prepared the crawdads, they were delicious and spicy, and the frat boys reunited.

People came and went. Some stayed late into the night.

Sunday morning came all too soon, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the house and entire backyard already spotless by the time I got out of bed! Thanks Gherkin and Squirrel. You guys rock!

I've caught the entertaining bug and am for more party throwing...

I won! I won!

What to buy with my new OKL gift card?

I'm beyond thrilled. I never win anything. Maybe this means my luck is about to turn around. Thanks Typhanie, over at Shoebox Decor, for the giveaway.

New Kicks

I needed to update my pair of EasyTone sneakers (you know the ones that Reebok came out with about a year or so ago). I bought a pair when they hit the market, and honestly the style was a bit dated. This time I created my own look via the Reebok website (and for the same price as those found in stores). They are customized to the point that my initials are on the back.

On a side note, I do think they work. I've been walking in mine for about a year, and I swear my gluteus maximus is more "toned." Maybe it's mind over matter, but if it makes me feel better about the maximus of my gluteus then I will continue to wear them.

Garden decor

I bought these pillows from Target a couple of months ago. They reminded me of a mix between Kate Spade and Tory Burch.

I found this cute tray at World Market today. Looked like it could be a good match to the pillows (and the price was right).

Here's the combo accessorizing my garden...just in time for our crawfish boil this weekend.

Maggie's Blend

I have a new favorite store thanks to Kristin. Tony may ban our hanging out. I could get lost at Maggie's in the Woodlands.
I could seriously eat the Maggie's Blend candle because it smells so amazing! The description on the website describes the scent as a unique blend of amaretto, almond, vanilla, and cinnamon. Deliciousness sums up my description. If you're in the area be sure to stop by and pick some up. You will not regret it.
I'm burning mine nightly.
I hear that Tina's (previously known as Maggie's) in Galveston is still going to carry Maggie's Blend candles. So you can also pick up some deliciousness in Galveston too.

Dear Uncle Sam,

We are not friends!
You want me to pay how much tomorrow, and then audit me May?
That's all.

It's nice out...

Nice enough for a relaxing evening on the patio with a glass of vino. So I relaxed, sipped vino, and decided to share another shot of my DIY mason jars. The jars look lovely outdoors especially with some candlelight. Enjoy the evening!

Recent Updates to the casa

New master bedroom is slowly coming together. I finally found a rug a Pier One this week. You can see a hint of the rug below. I hesitantly ordered a ruffled bedskirt from thinking I would end up returning it, but in the end I fell in love with it!
We still need a headboard, our framed Italy photographs printed for above our laps and side wall, and a couple upholstered white chairs or a bench at the foot of the bed.

I have my eye on a tan, upholstered, tufted headboard from Garden Ridge. My friend, Kristin, has this headboard in her bedroom and it looks fabulous! She and I visited Garden Ridge on Saturday in hopes of loading up the king headboard for me to bring home, but they only had queen sizes in stock. Fingers crossed that one of the other nearby Garden Ridge stores has a king size in stock.

Here's a sneak peek at our guest bedroom. I'm not completely sure of the look I desire for the guest room so I'm playing with what we currently have.

I also added some texture to our breakfast area with some burlap around the white slipcovered chairs. I like the look.

No such luck...

on finding those Ball blue mason jars I posted about. I wanted at least six and couldn't come to terms with spending $5/jar in addition to S&H. So I made my own. A dozen for less than $25.

12 pint size Blue Mason Jars (purchased from HEB)
Vitrea 160 in turquoise (from Michaels)
Vitrea 160 thinner (again from Michaels)
fan brush

Mix a dime size drop of turquoise Vitrea 160 with 2-3 fan brush dips of thinner in a tubberware container. Use a fan brush to brush the mixture onto upside down mason jars. Let dry for 24 hours. Don't worry about the streaks...they will disappear, for the most part, with the next step. Bake jars at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Then decorate!

I do want the vintage jars and may buy some if I ever find some at a good price,
but these should hold me over for now.

Idea copied from amountainbride.

Pinot and Picasso: Part II

My friend, Aimee, invited me to Pinot and Picasso last week.
I couldn't refuse the invitation. It's a bit addicting as I discussed here.
We felt "experienced" this time and definitely had our game face on.

My new "art."

My Pinot and Picasso collection.
Happy Easter!
