Is February seriously over? It felt more like 15 days as opposed to 28 days. I'm not complaining because that means our London trip is right around the corner as is Spring. Here's what went down around here this month...

1) Snoop D. O. double G.
Yes, we went with some friends to see Snoop Dogg at House of Blues. It was a spur of the moment idea, but fabulously fun-filled. Getting there was the best part. It was my friend, Erin's, first night out since the birth of her daughter in December which prompted her husband to rent a stretch Hummer to take us to and from the concert. Brilliant idea!

2) My brother got a new dog and brought him for a visit. Carter was eager to have another small dog to pick on. Sam was quite annoyed.

3) We took a trip to Lufkin and Nacogdoches to visit the fam and celebrate a friend's birthday.

4) I've started running again thanks to Mr. Carter. Until recently I refused to even walk with Carter because, well, it was more like Carter walking me. A friend recommended the Gentle Leader leash, and I highly recommend it especially if you have a dog that constantly pulls when leashed. Read the instructions first, though. I may or may not have wasted 20 minutes trying to figure out how to put this thing on. I'm glad Carter and I worked out our differences... especially since my treadmill died this month.  You can read all about my sadness over its death in the previous post.

5) You can read about my Valentine's Day gift to myself and from Tony here.

6) I was slightly obsessed with the Olympics and watched almost daily. Read about my Olympic crush here.

7) Annual work review took place & I got a raise!

8) Tony's grandmother, Emma, passed away. The service was this weekend in Austin. Tony went with his parents, and I stayed to keep the dogs. I hear that it was a nice and simple service.

Here's to March and more sun-shiny days.

NOOOOOO.....

It's a sad day people.

My treadmill died today!  I knew it was sick, but today it officially quit working.

I came home from work, quickly threw on my workout gear, turned on my ipod, had some Black Eyed Peas playing to pump me up, hit start on my treadmill, and nothing! Nada! Zilch! I tried turning it off and on, unplugging it, hitting it, and kicking it but still nothing.  It's a sad day folks. I'm now drowning my sorrows by blogging and eating Girl Scout Cookies (Peanut Butter Patties to be exact). Screw the workout today.

You see I am not a gym person and have wasted plenty of money for unused memberships at numerous gyms around town in the past. Can't stand waiting for machines with a 30 minute limit once you are on. I mean come on...if I wait and pay to use it then I can go for 45 minutes. Right? Also can't stand the gross guys at the gym who gawk at girls in tight spandex (sorry for stereotyping).

I've had my treadmill for almost 4 years, and it's been very good to me.  I used it almost everyday for about 2 years straight, and at least 3 times a week the 3rd year. No lie.... Tony will vouch for me. (He hates it by the way) I may or may not have taken a nice long break during the recent holidays, but just when I was getting my groove back this happens.

I plan to have my handy man (aka Tony) take a look.

I may call the warranty company (but doubt I will have the patience to wait for them to send someone out to diagnose the problem and then wait for them to send another person out to fix the problem).

I may have already checked out Sears.com just buy another one.

This one has been advertised on tv a lot lately. Looks neat. The price tag is not so neat, though!
{sears.com and roughly $2500}

This one is more likely to fit in our budget and it has a fan.  Score!

{sears.com}

I will remain optimistic and enjoy my cookies for now with fingers crossed that Tony will be able to work his magic. In the meantime, is it too much to ask for weather that is more conducive to running?

My apologizes for being such a Debbie Downer today...

On a brighter note, I have a photo shoot tomorrow!  The practice I work at has asked me to have a photo taken to hang on the wall next to the physicians' portraits. It's a honor. Now I just need to pull my hand out of the cookie jar so I don't have a double chin and chubby cheeks tomorrow.

"I like my coffee strong, not lethal."

I, for the life of me, can not make coffee. Well, coffee that tastes decent that is. Tony finally told me a few months ago that the coffee I make is "always bitter." It only took him 3 years to tell me... how embarrassing!! My apologizes if I ever served you any of my coffee.  Despite multiple attempts to improve the taste over the past few months the ruling still stands... I can't make coffee.  I've accepted it, and I'm moving on.

Well, good-bye bitter lethal coffee and Starbucks. (I vowed to not frequent Starbucks as often if we bought this) Hello good-smelling, great-tasting coffee. We bought a Keurig Gourmet Coffee system this weekend.

So far, so good! You can brew a single cup (you can change the cup size) in under a minute. I've tried this flavor. De-lic-ious!

You can make single cups of tea also---brilliant! I tried this one, and it's alright just a little sweet. I will opt for one of the green tea mixes next time.

Simple Stir-fry

I wanted to be outside as much as possible today since it's going to be in the 30s with a small chance of snow again on Tuesday. I'm done with winter and cold, wet weather. I've missed my flip-flops and flip-flop weather.

After dragging myself and the dogs inside this evening, I threw this together for dinner.
Chicken and veggie stir-fry

Spinach, bell pepper, and manchego salad... so quick and easy! And tasty!

I am trying to eat more veggies these days. I've never been a big veggie eater...unless it's fried...
then bring on the fried squash and fried green tomatoes any day.
{Disclaimer: I grew up in East Texas}

Then for dessert...an oldie but goodie.

Strawberry Shortcake

Crushing

I have a crush...

an Olympic crush...
on Evan Lysacek.

I have no shame and I'm glad he won GOLD!

Tony's crushing too.
I was instructed to record his "girlfriend's run" on Wednesday night.
She won the gold medal too.

My Valentine's Day gift(s)...

{I may or may not have treated myself to a new bottle of perfume.}

T.C. brought home one these for me after a quick grocery store run yesterday. Side note: Tony going to the grocery store for me yesterday was the best Valentine's Day gift ever.  I hate grocery shopping.  Please excuse my laziness for not taking a picture of my orchid, but take my word for it... mine is beee-u-ti-ful. Tony has a talent for picking out the best looking orchids and his orchids live much longer than mine do.  True story.

I'm off to watch more of the Olympics.  Is it just me or are these Olympic ice skaters falling more this year?

Happy Valentine's Day

{image: Crave Cupcake}

Yes, please.  I'll take one (or two).

Oh no she didn't...

Oh yes, I did buy these today.  (Don't hate Ms. Marlin)

I've secretly been wanting a pair for a while, and after seeing the photos of SimplySeleta's and modGIRL's trip to NYC I caved and bought a pair.  I need them for London, right?

Converse were hot back in the day...when I was in elementary school.  I do promise not to sport different colored socks, laces, or heck even two different color of shoes this time around though.

Did I mention that our flight to London is booked? I started planning my attire today---not as easy and as fun as it sounds since...
1) I refuse to check my luggage so I am trying to get everything in a carry-on
2) we are going in March and it's impossible to predict the weather then. So I need find outfits that will work for both chilly and spring-like weather
and 3) I need to be prepared for the RAIN.

Here's my thoughts so far (of course, the converse are in the mix)

{taking black boots too... if I can ever find where I put them last}

I do need a cute trench coat since London is known for lots of rain. I like this one from Eddie Bauer... color yet to be decided. Any thoughts?

I'm staying with my fabulous friend, Hannah, who has already offered to let me borrow clothes and jackets while I'm there.  Think showing up with a carry-on full of just shoes, undergarments, and jeans (b/c I certainly can't squeeze into Hannah's) would be inappropriate?

Nesting

Thanks Tony for lighting up my cabinets. The two things I miss most about our old house... 1)the trash compactor and 2) the under-cabinet lights. Now I just need my trash compactor. We are still figuring that one out.

Tony found this bird's nest in the backyard right after we bought the house, and I rescued it from the trash can Tony tossed it in. It now sits on the window sill in my kitchen adorned with the new robin's eggs from Pottery Barn.
Just FYI, PB has some cute items for Spring... I almost blew my budget.

rain, rain, go away...

...but thanks for helping my moss grow!

Moss started creeping on and in between our bricks shortly after moving into our house. I guess the previous owners scraped it out/off on a consistent basis. What were they thinking? I especially like it when it covers the bricks. I tend to prefer the flagstone look as opposed to the brick look in landscaping, but I can certainly live with moss-covered bricks. So I've had a love/hate relationship with all this rain lately. I prefer the sunshine any day but am appreciative of the the moss that is growing like crazy.

Dear Moss,
I hear that spreading yogurt and/or buttermilk where you grow will help stimulate your growth, but quite frankly I don't have time for that. I need you to keep growing especially when it's freaking 100 degrees this summer with drought-like conditions.  Thanks for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Tiffanie

lovin' the stripes

I'm seeing a trend for Spring 2010... navy, white, a little red and stripes.  I'm digging the nautical look, and it's been difficult to stick to my budget lately.

I'd like to see some orange mixed in with the navy and white as opposed to the red I've seen in stores to avoid the over-the-top patriotic look.

I'll take the Banana Republic ruffled tank above and this bangle.  Yes, please.
I'll also take the AE striped boat neck above with this scarf.  Yes, please.

Completeness

The new and improved (well, I think so) breakfast area and dining room.

Now I need to complete my work for today and decipher this...
This is a patient's blood sugar trend for the the past 4 days.
Jealous?
