Bad start, Good ending.

Our day started at 4 a.m. with a phone call from my aunt telling us that Preston's heart rate was dropping low and that the doctors were bedside. Tony and I made our way to the hospital. The doctors thought that some of Preston's accessories (aka lines and tubes) were causing his bradycardia. By 7 am they were removing lines. A different line removed every one to two hours. We loved see those lines and tubes go bye-bye, but his heart rate remained erratic despite their removals.

The doctors kept reassuring us especially since his ECHO showed stronger heart function when compared to Saturday and his blood pressure was great.

After a two-hour test run of Preston initiating his own breaths they proceeded with extubation. I'm proud to say that Mr. P no longer has a breathing tube and is breathing on his own. He has a nasal cannula now just to help open his airway all the way. I can finally see his sweet little face again, and you can too!

Mr. P @ 6 days old
The great news is that Preston's heart rate is much more stable without the breathing tube... looks like we found our culprit. (fingers crossed that was it)

Thanks for getting those prayers going early this morning. Once again I'm singing praises.  Thanks for all the sweet messages, phone calls, tweets, texts etc.  I read them all... now if I could just find the time to reply. Love you guys.

OMG! He is so adorable! I love the look of contentment and peace. He doesn't look like a sick baby, probably because he has been healed!

God is working through Preston to not only strengthen his testimony, but to make all of us believe even more.

Love ya!

Hi P! Guess what?! Your biggest fan from Indiana is going to be in Texas late April. And you better believe I'll be coming to visit you. Even when I'm not writing to your Mom, I'm always thinking of you! I even have my own family members asking about you. Ya know, you're kind of a big deal...

Keep fighting sweet P! :)

He is simply precious! I may be a stranger but I'm praying hard for this sweet boy. My son (who is now 18 months old and healthy) had many complications at birth and and extended hospital stay, I know we appreciated all the prayers from anyone who was willing! :)
