Diaper Changing 101

I'm no expert on changing a diaper (especially after the disaster that happened on our changing table last night), but here's what I know thus far.

via
1.  A second changing pad cover is essential for when the other is in the wash.
2.  As Breann once told me, always point it down.
3.  Glad I didn't care for mustard before... I will never think of it the same way. (Sorry for the TMI)
4.  When you hear the poopy, wait at least five minutes before attempting to change the the poopy... there will be another poopy all over the changing table
5.  Be prepared to laugh hard... hard enough to need a diaper yourself.

Oh the memories being made in this house...

LOL! Thanks for the laugh this morning.

I have a picture from Saturday where Tony was holding P, right after P had one of these moments. I laughed so hard when I came across it. I spared y'all and didn't put it in the gallery. :)

Can't wait to hang out tonight!

Getting ready for this! In a few months I will be writing about our experiences.

So gross ... but considering all that you and P have gone through, I think this little incident is nothing! :)

haha I know what you mean about mustard...and hubs thinks i'm insane but sometimes the breastmilk poo smells like buttered popcorn..i don't look at that the same either.
when baby #4 was 1 week old i was changing her diaper in the dark...she tooted and shot poo i swear 5ft...it hit just about everything...too me forever to clean up and i was totally grossed out! now we are having a little boy (any durn day now) and i have forgotten the 'boys' diapers...my boys are 14 and 12...so i'll need a refresher course...

Hey Tiffanie !
It gets better as they get old but we still get a little surprise every now and then ;)
What I use is Adult Disposable underpads. I get the small size and I buy them at walmart or cvs. The small size you can get 60 for around $10. They are great for accidents.

I was so tired of always washing her changing table cover and changing pad, so this way if she goes to the bathroom while changing her I can just throw away the pad and not have to do any wash. The pads hold a lot too so no mess.

Hahahaha!!! I'm loving number 5! Gorl, you need some "pee pee tee pee's"! I'm sure you've seen them! They're little tee pee shaped cone thingys that cover it while it's in the air! =) Gotta love those diapers!

I will never forget when Logan peed all over the wall next to the changing table. I keep washcloths in the drawer to lay over "it" so that there is less chance of spray!

Such a good attitude about diaper changing...

I am laughing though because these are sooo very true!

There are times when we definitely know that GG is pooping because we can hear it all over the place. Never leave home without several changes of clothes in anticipation of those explosive BM!

Oh how conversations change once you're a momma!

And yes, one diaper pad is never enough...we have 4!

Love it! The "wait 5 minute" rule still applies at our house! There's ALWAYS a little more!

Funny story (and TMI): One time I was changing Jack on the chair in our living room and the blow-out happened right as I was getting ready to put the new diaper on. There was poop EVERYWHERE - on the chair, on the carpet, all over me - it was AWFUL! Of course, I was wearing new jeans at the time! Those boys! They're good for a lot of laughs!

So thankful that you are getting to experience all of the joys of parenthood! :)

Like someone else said, I am just thankful that you have diapers to change and poop to clean up - sounds weird, but what a blessing!

Wait until the blowout is all over your hand! You need several sheet savers from Babies r us to put over your changing pad, they really help (they also help in the crib, pack n lay, etc). I also use these, they are like washcloths, pee pee teepees didn't work for me. They work well but sometimes he kicks them off. www.bummas.com

Just wait till you have an "accident" in the tub. I always make the hubs take care of that one.

Glad to hear P is doing good!

This post reminded me of Arianna's first major accident. Unlucky for us it was taking her first baby photos with a black drop cloth and no diaper. Not only did she completely ruin the cloth we too didn't really think about putting a diaper on while we cleaned the mess. 15 pose attempts, 2 diaperless accidents, and one pause for nursing later we had really cute pictures!

Love it!! So true. I hate when I change his diaper only to have it filled again in 10 minutes.
