I don't plan to hit up any stores on Black Friday.  NO, THANK YOU.  I do plan to shop online, and there's plenty of good deals.

First up, holiday cards. Need to order mine and take advantage of Minted's current 20% off holiday cards offer. Click banner below for discount.

Secondly, I think Miss Hadley needs some Hanna Anderson for Serena & Lily pjs.  These are adorable.  THANKS20 gets you 20% off.

Tea collection is having a HUGE sale here.

Land of Nod is offering 15% off and free shipping through Monday. I adore these sleeping bags.

Mudpie and Smockadot Kids are available on Zulily today.  Conveniently so is Thomas the Train.  That could seriously be some one stop shopping for me right there.  You guys know by now that my Preston is obsessed with Thomas the Train.

Layla Grayce is offering 20% off site wide with code THANKFUL.

Finally, don't forget to check out Blurb for some gift ideas.

Y'all know by now that Blurb is one of my favorite companies to work with.  If you don't, then see here, here, and here

Blurb is offering 30% off Blurb's print books with code SAVE30.  Use Blurb's 2013 Gift Guide to find inspiration for your holiday gifts.  The Gift Guide is also an instruction guide for how to make a beautiful Blurb book gift for anyone in your life.

Below are pictures I've snapped and shared here on the blog over the years of my favorite pages from my Blurb books.

Hope you guys got your gobble on yesterday!
Happy Black Friday!

Preston's big boy room {finally}

Finally got some time to snap pictures of the big brother's big boy room to document here on the blog.

I'm not a huge theme person.  Meaning I don't tend to decorate rooms around a specific theme, but after seeing these from Rifle Paper Co., I knew that this room would have a little bit of a dog theme going without it screaming dogs. The dog prints were the very first thing that I purchased for this room.  Guess you could say the whole room was based around these. Thanks, Rifle Paper Co.

I love how the framed dog stationary from Rifle Paper Co turned out. There are two, one over each bed.

My second purchase for the room was this Dwell Studio rug. I saw it in a friend's house and immediately fell in love.  There's quite a bit of this orange-red color in the dog prints so I knew this rug would pull out that color. Plus, I knew the bright colors would be a nice contrast to our dark floors.  Said friend sent me an e-mail when the rug was listed for 50% off and that was it --- rug was ordered.

I love to display his art from school and some of the crafts that we make here at home.  I threw up some twine and now clip his masterpieces (ha!) to it.

The little Ikea table and chairs are a perfect fit between the door to his room and the door to his closet. Ironically so is a train table, and that's what he's asking Santa for this year.  He tells Zelf daily, "Santa buy me a train table, peez."

My next purchase took me forever and a few hundred miles to find.  I searched high and low for a pair of Jenny Lind twin beds.  Craigslist for the win, but too bad they were located in Kerrville --- over 4 hours from here.  The husband agreed to make the drive one Saturday and the owner held them for us for a few weeks until he could get up there.

We painted the beds in Annie Sloan's graphite.  You can see the before and after here

The pair of beds flank the window in the room and we put this dresser in front of the window, in between the beds.

I moved the letters that hung above his crib into his big boy room.  I just couldn't part with them yet.  I hung them on the wall that runs the length of his bed.

The cedar chest that my Paw Paw built for him sits at the foot of his bed.  It makes me smile often as I constantly think of my grandfather every time I see it.  Miss him.

After debating for a long time, I finally decided on shelves from Ikea.  The Gherkin hung them for me, and just like that the room was complete.

Some of the details:
An old Pendleton blanket from his Daddy's younger years.  One of my favorite things in the room!
close-up of his masterpieces

wire hanging baskets from Land of Nod for added storage in his closet. Love these!

For his first birthday we gave him a share of Disney stock, and this little certificate came with it.  I found an old leftover frame in a closet and put his certificate in there.

His Heart of Gold Willow Tree figurine.  (newbies, if you're unfamiliar with Preston's CHD, you can read about it here)
I love the little quote on the Disney Certificate.  It says Sometimes you'll be Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and maybe even Grumpy, but I hope you are always Happy at the end of the day

He was gifted a star in his name when he was born.  I framed the coordinates of his star to be displayed on his shelf. I think that's the coolest gift ever.

clear book shelf from here

I adore this room.  It was definitely fun to create.  He likes it too.
Thanks for looking!

minted's unique new baby holiday cards

In hope of simplifying things around here and having more time to enjoy my wee one, we're combining Hadley's birth announcement with our Christmas card this year.

I was reluctant at first --- this is against my overambitious personality, but once I saw Minted's New Baby Holiday Collection I was sold.  They have the perfect designs for combining these two very special occasions.

How could you not agree?  Although those are few of my favorites above, rest assured that I didn't reveal my top choice.  That'll remain a surprise until it shows up in your mailbox come December.

Not interested in a new baby holiday card?  Well, I would still check out Minted, especially their new foil-pressed line.  I posted about my love for them back in September here.

Lovin' me some foil-pressed cards this year!

*Affiliate links used. Minted will provide me with a promo code to use towards my holiday cards in exchange for my Minted-related posts.  All opinions expressed above are honest and are my own.

Relaxation is in season { a Massage Envy post }

The Massage Envy Houston Spas have a special holiday offer – buy two gift cards (any combination that equals $150) and receive a free, one-hour massage session. That is music to this tired mommy's ears. This offer is only valid at the 30 Houston Massage Envy Spas. Massage Envy Spa gift cards may be used for any combination of products and services offered in any Massage Envy Spa nation-wide. Fourteen Houston Massage Envy Spas offer Murad® healthy skin facials. A facial sounds terrific also

 My tired and aching muscles ( I just completed my first 45 minutes of exercise since having, well, since well before getting pregnant with Hadley) are screaming for a massage.  A Massage Envy Spa gift card makes a thoughtful gift and is beneficial for physical and mental well-being. There are many benefits to receiving therapeutic massage on a routine basis – and this holiday season is the perfect time to give the gift of relaxation.  Buy your two best girl friends a gift card and make a girls' day or moms' hour out of it  --- with maybe even a mimosa and brunch beforehand.  That sounds ahh-maz-ing right about now.

This special Massage Envy holiday promotion runs from November 20th through December 24th.

Note: the free massage must be redeemed at one of the Houston area Massage Envy locations.

five on friday { november style }

Winter, well Texas-style winter, hit here this week for a mere 48 hours.  I bribed my son with a fire in the good ol' fireplace that we get to use maybe five times a year.  My bribery worked, by the way.  It's also that time of the year for little guy's yearly cardiology work up.  Our appointment is on Thursday and we covet your prayers that morning.  This is his first follow- up since stopping his medication last year.  I'm praying it's a good one.

Stinkin' holiday party and postpartum bodies don't mix well. Nothing fits right now.  I pretty much wear leggings or yoga pants 24/7.  I probably wouldn't go through the hassle of finding something and just stay home, but the Zac Brown Band is playing at said holiday party and I think they're fun so I'm there!

So my gal and I hit up the galleria on Wednesday.  I nursed her twice in the Nordstrom ladies' lounge, which turns out to be also known as the nursing lounge, along with about five other moms. I found a dress that I think I am going to wear, but I fell in love with these shoes (pictured below) from Madewell that the stylist brought me to try on with the dress.  I left without the shoes.  Such is life on unpaid maternity leave and honestly, after 9 months of not wearing heels I don't know if I can sport these all night long at a holiday party. I pretty much love them though. Maybe Santa will hear my wishes.

Speaking of postpartum, I'm in a serious fog.  I had a package shipped to my old address.  As in four years old address.  Fortunately that address is just down the street so I left the new homeowner a note.  She called the next day and I retrieved my package.  Same day I realized this, I also left my keys in the back door, making myself easily accessible to robbers and rapists,  Surely this "fog" is not here to stay!?  It's gotta be a temporary thing, right!?

Speaking of Santa, my little guy joined me on the couch last weekend for a little catalog browsing.  Turns out he wants a train table and "choo-choo trains" from Santa.  Surprise, surprise.  He is choo-choo obsessed. Every day since then he's asked "when santa coming, mommy?"  Time to find an advent calendar. This is the year that Elf on the Shelf is coming to our house.  His name is Zelf.

My favorite, Houston area photographer came over on Halloween for Hadley's newborn pictures. She does such an amazing job of chronicling our life for us. Here's a sneak peek.

 Better late than never, but I'm linking up with Darci and friends for a little Five on Friday lovin'.

Happy Friday! I'm super excited because this means the husband is home with me for the next two days! I'm still getting used to this whole mom-of-two thing.
